Adrian Jeffers, Writer, Salem, OR (AdJeffers@corban.edu) "I have used Denise Gripp for long-distance Iowa research help on my Civil War project regarding the Third Iowa Regiment and have been imminently satisfied with her work. She was prompt, thorough, followed directions closely and was very pleasant to work with. She also went beyond her responsibilities of my requests, providing additional materials at no extra cost. I especially appreciated her use of the digital camera in copying materials in a cost-saving manner."

Editor's Note: I'll be tooting my own horn on this one since I don't seem to have anything in written form from my aforementioned client. He was placed in a Lutheran Children's Orphanage at the age of three, and he wished to learn more about his birth mother. He wished to share the information with his adult children before he passed away. With nothing more than a birth date to go on, I knew the road ahead would not be easy. As expected, I had no luck at recovering my client's birth record at the county courthouse. I decided to stay an extra day in the area to pay a visit to a local museum. Low and behold, year-to-year county hospital records were conveniently at my disposal! Not only did I recover his birth record, but I happened upon the mother's highly detailed obituary in a neighboring town library! The write-up explained the mother's subsequent marriage and mentioned her five children, and it also mentioned that dirty word, "cancer" as being the cause of her demise at the rather young age of 58. This new information was promptly added to my client's medical history. I was also able to shed some light on another family puzzle regarding twin granddaughters in the family. In the 1930 Federal Census, I spied "Annette" and "Jannette", older twin sisters of my client's birth mother -- he now knows "the rest of the story!"
From 2007-09, I was a resident "Expert" for Ancestry.com's rather short-lived ExpertConnect program. I managed to retain my five-star status throughout the two-year program. Following are some pages of client comments I scanned in from the web site:
